Just had the Sally Hansen Nail Care Nail Art Workshop event yesterday, 15th September. This event was jointly organised by Vanity Trove and Sally Hansen. For those of you who aren't sure what Vanity Trove is about, just click on the link! Haha. You have to pay to go for the event, but since I am considered a nail noob, I thought I should give it a shot. So I managed to drag my friend, Min Fei, along with me. Heehee. =)

The event was held at Fullhouse Theme Cafe Level 2, Rendezvous Hotel. =) Anyhow, the event started a bit later than 10am, and cause I reached early, I had time to go around the Cafe to take a few shots. Well, since Fullhouse is a themed cafe, of course it looks nice and classy~

So ya, we started the Workshop with a talk about the types of fingers and nail shapes that we have. This would then allow us to know what type of nails should we keep (keep them long or trim them short) so that our fingers look presentable. =) So, the presenter called a few people up to show the type of fingers they have, and how they should keep their nails.

Next, we were introduced to the items we have on our table. Haha. There are so many, I don't know where to start from. There's the Emery Board (Nail File), Orangewood manicure stick, some fake nails for us to do nail art on, Manicure Finger Soak Bowl (which is almost impossible to find, unless you buy in large stock) and a Towel.

The Orangewood manicure stick has 2 ends, one pointy and the other is slightly cut slanted. The slanted side allows us to wipe any accidental polish that ends up on our flesh while painting our nails. =X

From left to right: Complete Care Extra Moisturising 4-in-1 Treatment (which also acts as a base coat), Diamond Flash Fast Dry Top Coat, Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle Oil and a Gel Cuticle Remover (which cannot be left on the nail for more than 10 minutes!).

Group talk session on how to gently massage and put on leg lotion. Ya ya, the way I put on lotion on my leg is always done so quickly, I never do it the right away. Haha. Here, the presenter taught us to use the lotion to gently massage our toes and in-between the toes. Also, she reminded us that we should moisturise (especially) at the top of our feet, because when we do wear covered toe flats, we tend to get rough calluses at the edge of the shoes. =)

Precisely at 11.15pm, we were presented with some food~ HAHA! =D

After that, we were taught how to properly apply nail polish- stir the nail polish before use, and flick some polish at the sides of the bottle before applying on the nail. =) Also, to prevent hardening of the nail polish at the sides of the bottle, nail polish remover can be used to remove the dried polish, else it will become too hard to open. Lol. Sigh. I seem to be making all these mistakes. Damn, I feel mediocre. LOL! =X HAHAHA! Oh well, this nail workshop really did open my eyes to proper nail care. =P

And finally, the last 30 minutes were for us to come up with a design for nail art. Here we have some fake nails to beautify them, so to speak. LOL!

After the 30 minutes, everyone's artwork was done and were being judged! =) Haha. So pretty, but ya. Carn do it to my nails, cause they ain't that long and slender. LOL! =P

Anyhow, that was the end of the workshop. After that, there were some products at the back of the room. We could buy them back after trying them out during the workshop. So I bought the Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle Oil and Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener, both for prices way way below the market price that you can get from Watsons or Guardian. =P

And yupp, after the event, I had to rush to my friend's house for our Cell Biology Project. =) Carn wait for it to be over though I'm not presenting. Lol. But anyway, jiayou to my friends who are presenting this coming Tuesday~~ Will be in school tomorrow to hear you guys! Been MIA for a while. Haha. Work has been piling up and the rate at which they are being cleared is not fast enough. LOL! =X Anyhow, I still managed to get some part-time jobs to fund my extravagant blog shopping lifestyle. Though its quite mild already, only bought 1 top last month. =)

Shall summarise about the TJCSB Anthem recording at Lion Studio. =) Heh. A few of the alumni headed back to TJC to play a part in this recording, so that when we do head back to TJC morning assembly, we can hear ourselves being played in the PA system. Haha.

We took about 3 hours and only played 6 times to get the entire piece right! Haha. Quite an achievement cause thinking back, 10 years ago when they did the TJ Anthem recording, they played about 10 times to get it right. =P Heh. Then we took the bus back to TJC and planned for dinner. Haha. =) Anyway, one of my senior is leaving Singapore to pursue his Masters overseas for 1 year. The most recent wedding post I did about him and his now-wife. Haha. But its not that bad for him, cause his wife will be going along too. Hurhur. =P Maybe there will be Made in UK babies. Oops. =P Back to dinner, a large group of us (12 peeps) headed to Sin Hoi Eating House along East Coast Road. We waited for about 1 hour for our food to arrive!? But at least the food was decent and we swarmed over the food so quickly there wasn't time for me to snap photos of them. LOL. After that, we headed to Butter Fluffy Flaps along the road for dessert. Haha. Da and I didn't bring enough money so we settled for a hot cupppa chocolate~ =) So sinful! Haha.

It even came topped with a marshmellow. Damn~ =D

Anyway, worked with PS Divas for a newsletter distribution by The Edge. Mainly standing at the CBD area and giving out these newsletters and acting pretty. Bwahaha! But ya, the sun was unrelenting and I got an unsightly leg tan. =X But I did make a few friends during that stint. So it was a good haul for me. =) Previously, I did a magazine distribution for Oomph, distributing a Changi General Hospital magazine at Bedok MRT at 7am. Almost couldn't wake up. Haha. =P Recently went for a casting for MyGoldenDuck. And met a very sweet girl there too! =) One of the few event girls that are so easy to talk to and down-to-earth. =)

30th August 2012 marks the 52 months that we have been together. I wouldn't say that our relationship is all smiles and sunshine. Inevitably, a relationship can never be like that. But I do hope that he is my soulmate and that I can share my life with him through thick and thin in the years to come. He is the best bf I can ever hope for~ =D All right, so cheesy. Can't stand myself. =X Anyway, he's beside me when I'm typing this paragraph. Later he um-chio. LOL. =P

So ya, we celebrated our special day by going to Sushi Tei @ NEX for dinner. It was a weekday (Thursday), so we couldn't do anything spectacular. Hurhur. =) So ya, Sushi Tei is my favourite Japanese restaurant (currently). Hee.

Food was served quickly as compared to the wait to enter the restaurant. =) Yay! Itadakimasu!

Sashimi Salad with Sushi Tei Dressing. This is like the cheaper version of sashimi, with vegetables. Haha. We often go for this because its healthy and it allows us to eat some sashimi without ordering the more expensive ones. However, of course, the fish is definitely not as good as Salmon Belly Sashimi. Hee. =P

Terriyaki Steak with Garlic Slices. We ordered Medium Rare for this. Haha. He prefers it medium while I prefer rare. Ya ya, I know, I like blood-ier steak. =X Anyway, the steak was really very tender. With a slice of the steak along with the terriyaki sauce and garlic slices, the taste was splendid~ For a beef lover, this shouldn't be missed!! =D

As usual, I ordered my favourite, Tempura Udon! =D Haha. I like it with a sprinkle of chilli powder and the Tempura sauce for dipping my tempura prawns in~ =D Hee. Without fail, this didn't disappoint again! =D

Da's meal. Forgot the name of it, but I think it was Oyako Don. Simmered chicken and egg with rice, in simpler terms. Heh. The chicken wasn't too dry as compared to the previous time he ate this. Also, the egg wasn't fully cooked, just nearly. The chicken and eg combi literally melted in my mouth. Oishii!!~ Apparently the cooks at NEX cooked it better! Heh. =D

Anyway, just had a tiring day in school today. =X Had to wake up at 6am today to go lab and later lessons. And when lessons ended, headed back to lab again, and did my lab work till 9pm. Very shag! Haha. =X And I was plenty pissed off by one person in the lab today. Gahhs. Shall not mention about the selfish, incorrigible, pretentious know-it-all (because the person actually does not know much) person. Shall go meditate and snooze. Cheers y'all! And good night =D

Haha. Been MIA for awhile. Managed to clear my assignments that were due this week and next week. Though there are new ones coming every week. Pweeh! Haha. =X Anyhow, a little update on my life. Next week is week 4 of the semester! The weeks are literally flying by. Lol. Have to start revising or else I might regret it. Haha. It's the last semester of official studying for me, so I thought that I should give it my all. Then I crash and relax (hopefully) for the final semester for FYP. =)

Anyway, I went to Soup Restaurant at NEX with 妈, 阿姨 and Da two weeks ago (20th August), for lunch. I always liked the Soup Restaurant speciality, which was the Samsui Ginger Chicken! Haha. For those who are not sure what it is, you should seriously try that when you head over to Soup Restaurant!!

Quote: "A traditional Samsui dish consumed by the Samsui women in Chinatown. Due to their low income, the Samsui Ginger Chicken was only consumed once a year, during the Chinese New Year. Chicken was steamed without much seasoning after which, dipped in ginger sauce before consumption. The ginger sauce is a fragrant and tasty compliment to the chicken. Ginger and sesame oil, as believed by the Chinese, removes excess wind from the body. You may wrap the chicken in lettuce to achieve that crunch when you bite into the popular Samsui Ginger Chicken." So ya, we ordered our food and after about 5-10 minutes, the first dish arrived!

Yes! Samsui Ginger Chicken! It is essentially the best dish here ever! The chicken is juicy and tender. Also, fresh lettuce was also presented to us, to wrap the chicken (after dipping in with ginger). The combination of the lettuce and the ginger chicken was simply heavenly!~

Next up was Ah Por Fan Shu Leaves (non-spicy). For those who want the spicy version, it is Ah Kon Fan Shu Leaves (spicy). Lol. I thought Soup Restaurant was quite thoughtful to cater to the people who didn't want spicy food. =) Hee. Anyway, this dish is also one of the signature dishes of Soup Restaurant! So, do not miss this too!! =)

Sweet and Sour Pork with Cherry Tomatoes. A new dish by Soup Restaurant. To me, I thought it was still okay because I prefer the Sweet and Sour Pork to be more crunchy. =)

Last but not least, Hometown Tofu. This delicate tasting tofu was quite good! At first I wasn't that impressed with how the dish looked when it was presented to us. But after one bite, my impression changed. The tofu skin is crispy yet inside, the tofu was very soft~ Along with the sauce, it was a light tangy taste with a slight crispyness. Good one! =D

So it was a great meal for me~ =) Haha. Not sure about my 妈 and 阿姨, but my 阿姨 did say that she liked the chicken. Da said the chicken and the sweet and sour pork. Haha. =)
